How to request/renew the new biometric passport
The Seychelles Bio-Metric Passport was first introduced by the Seychelles Government in November 2022. The new passport has new security features and a microchip within the page which contains your personal information. The introduction of the Bio-Metric passport ushers in the era of modernisation and puts Seychelles on par with international norms. The new passports have improved security features which also lessens the like-hood of fraud.
The process does not require an application form,applicants are required present themselves at the enrolment office and present the appropriate documents to the customer service agent.
Citizens applying for passport renewal are required to submit their old passport and National Identity Number card, to the enrolment officer.
If you are applying for the first time you need to provide your National Identity Number card.
Applicants are then vetted and all details are documented. Once completed applicants may proceed to cashier for payment.
Upon completion of payment applicants submit their bio-data as follows:
Photograph, fingerprints and digital signature are taken. Receipt of payment remains with the applicant for collection.
Collection may be done 72 hours (3 working days) after enrollment.
Biometric Passport Enrolment for overseas applicants
(Seychellois students and the Diaspora population)
- Renewal of Passports
The applicant will forward copy of his/her current/ expiring or expired passport to immigration office in Seychelles for verification.

- Once verification is completed, applicant will be informed to proceed for enrolment at the designated enrolment station. He/ She should bring along his/her expiring or expired passport (1).
- At the enrolment station, the applicant will settle payment in respect of passport fee(2) (Equivalent of SR750). This should be done by bank transfer.
- Upon confirmation of payment by Treasury, the passport’s payment receipt is raised in Seychelles and only then that the passport can be personalised and printed.
- Minor children who are renewing passport, will require to produce their Birth Certificate to ensure the parental link with the accompanying parent (3).
- The captured biometric information is submitted electronically to immigration headquarters in Victoria, Seychelles for Personalisation and production of the passport.
- The newly produced passport is returned to the overseas station by courier service, three weeks after the receipt of the applicant’s expired/expiring passport.
- New passport Application
- The applicant’s status as a Seychellois citizen (4) needs to be first and foremost established.
- Birth certificate of the applicant and other necessary documents, will need to be submitted. Authentication of documents (5) is a must. It can be done at the nearest High Court in the country of the applicant’s residence. This is a requirement for registration of the National Identity Number (NIN) and Issuance of the ‘letter of ID’.

- The applicant’s status as a Seychellois citizen is established through the issuance of a ‘Letter of ID’ which should be forwarded to the appropriate embassy or high commission (4).
- The applicant will be informed to proceed for enrolment at the designated station.
- Physical verification of the original authenticated certificates will be conducted at the enrolment station.
- Once verification is completed, the applicant should settle the payment in respect of passport fee (SR750) and postage fee (SR1000). This should be done by bank transfer (2).
- Upon confirmation of payment by Treasury, the passport’s payment receipt is raised in Seychelles and only then that the passport can be personalised and printed.
- The captured biometric information is submitted electronically to immigration headquarters in Victoria, Seychelles for Personalisation and production of the passport.
- The newly produced passport is returned to the overseas station by courier service, three weeks after the enrolment has been carried out.
- Lost/ Stolen/ Damaged Passport (Replacement)
- The applicant should produce a report of his/her lost or stolen passport. The report can be obtained from the nearest police station or Seychelles embassy/ High Commission or consular mission
- The applicant will forward copy of the report together with copy of any form of identification for verification.

- This will be followed by the settlement of payment in respect of passport fee (Equivalent of SR750 and postage fee of SR1000 as well as a surcharge fee if applicable).
- Following confirmation of payment, applicant will be invited to carry out enrolment at the designated Enrolment Station.
- The captured biometric information is submitted electronically to immigration headquarters in Victoria, Seychelles for Personalisation and production.
- The newly produced passport is returned to the overseas station by courier service, three weeks after the enrolment has been carried out.
- Delivery/Collection of new Passport
- The passport, once produced, will be forwarded to the embassy/ high commission concerned, by courier service.
- The passport will be collected by the applicant upon showing of some form of identification.
- A person collecting the passport on behalf of the applicant should bring along the following documents:
- A signed authorization letter from the applicant
- Copy of any form of identification of the applicant
- Any form of identification of the person collecting the passport
- A parent collecting passport on behalf of a minor child should show identity of him/her and of the child.
